Jane Hofverberg, professor of Occupational Therapy Assistant said this is an example of what can be accomplished. “Students learn to think on their feet and rely on their emerging clinical judgment.”

Students volunteered a total of 175 hours over the course of five quarters to provide and oversee a variety of educational, leisure and daily living activities for meeting sites and resident’s homes.

“It’s very rewarding to see how much pleasure we bring and to see their smile and know they got enjoyment out of what we helped them with,” said volunteer, Katie Hill.

“When you first work with the client all you see is the disability but by the time you leave there that is so secondary, you just see the people, you just see the humanity,” Hofverberg added.
