Helping companies expand capabilities, capacities and performance

Sinclair Community College’s Learning Center at Miami Valley Research Park (MVRP) is a state-of-the-art IT center offering a learning-on-demand environment for IT students, professionals, businesses and the community. Through custom training and certificate programs, Sinclair’s Workforce Development & Corporate Services (WFD&CS) helps organizations and individuals expand their capability, capacity and performance.

The Learning Center at MVRP offers IT solutions including Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft and CompTIA training. Students are provided with direct access to hardware, in a classroom offering an accurate network representation that builds on the application of real networking skills found in the workplace.

With technology changes and increase in demand, Sinclair has made significant investments at the Learning Center to upgrade technology to support today’s IT training needs. “Our goal in WFD&CS is to provide customized training for each client, to ensure that skills transition seamlessly into their work site. Having a location at MVRP is yet another way that we are responding to the community and understanding each client’s goals, objectives and critical business needs,” said Deb Norris, vice president of Workforce Development & Corporate Services.

The Learning Center also offers a Testing Center, allowing students the benefit of having training and testing in one facility. The Testing Center provides a secure and quiet testing environment for the certification, placement and academic-testing services of Pearson VUE, ACT, PAN and Prometric testing companies.

“Our company has utilized Sinclair’s Learning Center for several vendor-specific technical courses. The ability to offer those types of courses locally is a great benefit. By eliminating travel we have been able to train more employees on the critical technical skills they need. The classrooms, staff and technical environment at Sinclair’s WFD&CS MVRP location are top notch,” stated Starlene Brooks, training coordinator of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).

In addition to IT training at the Learning Center, WFD&CS also offers a plethora of training on industry certifications, lean engineering and manufacturing, assessments and leadership, professional development, and online-learning and career-training programs.
